Not Quite

I was not quite done with bass yet. Noticed a couple things needing tweaks, including a chord that was totally wrong lol. Guess nothing is ever quite done, right? I have learned at some point, especially with technology these days, you have to cut yourself off from seeking perfection.

When I was playing bass for The Mud Flappers, we traveled to Nashville to record at a studio that was basically 100% analog. It was called Fry Pharmacy Recording at the time, and has since moved to Memphis and is now called Memphis Magnetic Recording Co. Scott was the owner and was awesome. Of the many experiences I had at Fry, one thing I learned was that I loved the limitation of tape recording. Also, the limitations of only having so many tracks. It handcuffs you in a good way, not overthinking....what else can we do to this track? Guess what? You're done because your out of space to record! It really hones in the creative process, and keeps you focused on what's important.

So today I finish a few bass tracks and this afternoon I'll start deciding how to record the guitars. Here's me redoing the bass on a song I've titled "Narcoossee". Enjoy! -J
